At the core of NPIRS Public Searching are two no-cost options, PPIS and State Public. All data is retrieved from the US EPA and states that share their data with NPIRS.
The PPIS website contains a portion of the federal pesticide product data contained in the NPIRS database. PPIS includes all federally active primary registrant products. These products, with a federal status of active, are federally registered and available for use in the United States.
In order to be included in the PPIS website, a company must be the primary registrant of at least one federally active product. Companies whose products have all been federally cancelled, do not appear here. Additionally, distributor products are not included in PPIS.
There are four primary PPIS search options including: EPA Registration Number, Product Name, Company Name, and Active Ingredient.
Data Sources: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP)
Update Frequency: PPIS is updated weekly.
Unique Features: Partial string searches for some options, product manager information and links to the master label in PPLS.
The State Public website provides public access to a subset of the NPIRS State Pesticide Product data. The State Public website contains information pertaining to pesticides either currently licensed for distribution and sale in the United States and is provided for informational purposes only. There is no charge for a state to be included in the NPIRS State Public website; however, they must provide their state data in a timely fashion to NPIRS.
There are four State Public search options including: EPA Registration Number, Product Name, Company Name, and Active Ingredient. Search results can be saved or printed. The display option for Active Ingredient is a summary of all the chemicals included in your current search.
Data Sources: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) and U.S. states and territories who voluntarily provide their state registration data
Update Frequency: State Public is updated as frequently as a state sends their registration data to NPIRS, generally daily, weekly or monthly.
